5-14-25 THOUGHTS
I read this psalm last evening and the thought hit me... “I rarely think in terms of PAYING VOWS.” My life is a PROMISE to God. My marriage is a PROMISE to my wife. To David, the paying of vows seemed to be a day to day matter. Our vows are our response to God’s blessing us! 1Pet 1:3 “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His great mercy has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,” We are given a living HOPE that speaks to our eternity with God! 1Pet 2:24 “and He Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross, so that we might die to sin and live to righteousness; for by His wounds you were healed.”
Ps 61:1-8 Hear my cry, O God; Give heed to my prayer. 2 From the end of the earth I call to You when my heart is faint; Lead me to the rock that is higher than I. 3 For You have been a refuge for me, A tower of strength against the enemy. 4 Let me dwell in Your tent forever; Let me take refuge in the shelter of Your wings. Selah. 5 For You have heard my vows, O God; You have given me the inheritance of those who fear Your name. 6 You will prolong the king’s life; His years will be as many generations. 7 He will abide before God forever; Appoint lovingkindness and truth that they may preserve him. 8 So I will sing praise to Your name forever, That I may pay my vows day by day.
My Prayer:
O Lord God, lead us to the Rock that is higher than we are. We praise and love You, the One who is that Rock. Shelter us when our hearts are faint. Make our hearts pure, and from those hearts, may we fulfill our intentions toward You, our God. May we sing praises to Your name forever. Help us seek Your tender, loving kindness with each breath. O Lord, being Yours is the sense of eternity, it is all that matters. In Jesus we pray, Amen.
